What do you love and hate at microsoft as an back end engineer, frontend/ui eng, data scientist and ops. Please highlight if u are in HQ
I hate the culture, bureaucracy, the pay, the features, the products, the iteration models, and the engineering systems. Everything else is great.
I like my social life here. The job, not so much
Am I the only one who doesn't like urban environment and is glad Microsoft is in the suburbs?
Where exactly is it?
Yup, I also prefer suburbs with less of the city problems (even though I'm single)
I'm also glad to be in the suburbs. I have a family and the schools are awesome. My commute is 10 minutes and I get to see my kids everyday instead of fighting traffic and missing their lives.
Redmond office: I hate the technology stack. Was never a fan of windows ecosystem, hate it with passion now. I hate the location. Being single I want to stay in Seattle downtown and hence I waste close to 2 hours in commute everyday. I like the food options, perks (excluding salary). I'm not too upset about the salAry. I know I could make more than what I'm getting but it's enough for me at the moment.
I'm in Redmond. I love everything but the location (I don't live on the East side) and the pay. Even the pay is fine, so I guess it's mainly the location. My team's awesome, though. I don't think me being happy here has anything to do with it being backend or whatever.
I feel the same way. I'm happy with everything but the location. That said, it's probably about as good as a suburban corporate campus is going to get. Something I've never been able to understand is why our entire campus isn't surrounded by awesome restaurants, coffee shops, bars, etc. I really miss working down town for this reason, plus there diversity of people and thought that one experiences in a more urban environment.
Oh yeah, it a nice campus, just not a fan of the commute. Even that is not such a big deal, considering what tons of Americans have to deal with.
