How can a US software person freelance if there are so many from other countries offering services so cheap? I mean they offer whole project for 10 or 20 bucks. Any tips to stay competitive on these platforms? What are other options for US based freelancers?

Find gigs to bid on that don’t seem like a race to the bottom line, put in thoughtful bids in even if they are way above that the average bid is. Offer discounts to get started but make sure you’re still comfortably above the lowball bids. This is easier said than done especially because 80-90% of up work is literally a race to the bottom. Just remember that 80-90% isn’t your market, you’re looking for the percentage that will pay for quality
