Remember folks, all Israel wants is the hostages back
I'm mostly a frontend, full-stack engineer and I joined a frontend team at Chase in Nov 2022. After 2 months, another team manager talked to my current manager, tried to invite me to join their new team as a backend engineer, and gave me a chance to learn even though I have not much system design and Java experience. Now, we have a new join manager who managing us, and the previous manager who invited me has transferred to another team as a leader, Because of my experience and short deadlines, I haven't been assigned major features, mostly writing testing. Some concerns: I don't want to be a silent person trying to ask questions during the architecture meeting, but for me looks make sense, sometimes, I have no ask anything. I'm not very good at Indian accents, but because of time, I don't ask them to repeat it again, or just ping them to ask. I feel that the sense of presence is very low because they will skip directly to senior colleagues if they have questions. I keep going to catch up on backend skill after work, and I passed aws practitioner because I don't want to be a gap with my colleagues I know in the first year, I'll be fine, but I am concerned about next year, is it possible that I could be considered low-performing and face the risk of being laid off? I hope I can improve everything, but I need some time. Location: CA TC: 200k (1st year) #jpmorganchase #jpmorgan
Outwork everyone. Put in the time, and keep improving. You have to create space for yourself. Otherwise, find a way back to front end.
Always be looking. There is simply no reason to stop looking and interviewing. I have always found that interviews make you smarter and sharper. Even though I am in a new job after layoff, I continue to drop hundreds of job applications and selectively interview. Only way to survive and stay ahead in this shitty job market
And if it helps, a job application engine such as mobiusservices.me can help. It took off the application process headache for me
