I joined Google in Europe 4+ years ago and received a stock grant (around $40k). I transferred to the US over a year ago and I realized that new hires for my role are getting over $300k in stock. My stock refreshes are in the ranges of 50-70k per year so that doesn’t make up for the difference with new hires. Is the best option to leave to another tech to chase for that big fat stock package? #tech #stock #equity
Yes but not yet.
New hires always get paid more than long tenured employees 😿
Yeah that seems ass-backwards to me tbh
Wouldn’t a company pay you more to leave your current job? Seems logical to me
Out of your mind to try now… you may end up with 0.0 holding the bag. So, yes but wait.
Try Amazon if you want TC and have drive to work.
Are you in the US or in Europe now? Europe will just pay less anyway
OP said they transferred to the US
Many of those new hires probably had to do an interview loop which is harder than Europe on an average. So you win some, you lose some.
Europe will pay less anyway. I would just go see if you can land interviews and offers elsewhere and see what happens.
I would leave now. Sure it's a little risky but also RSU compensation is a fire sale at the moment. There's a lot of upside out there. The economy will eventually recover and you can always boomerang back.

Probably not the best timing to be fliting around tech companies given the current economic state of things
tough to say. Offers are still competitive. And DEFINITELY better than OP’s initial.
