Have an offer from coinbase, but I'll need a 3x jump on RSU valuation to match my current pay. What are the odds? Current TC: $370, 6 YOE. Offer: Base: 160k RSU: 70k/year. Any upside on accepting this offer in March vs. Apr? How are the units valued? I can only join in May cause I'm on H1B. I'm yet to hear from other places I've interviewed. #coinbase
Sounds like you are being leveled one below where you are at Facebook? That would explain the big difference. That’s an L4 offer. L5 would likely get you right around 300 and then it’s much more comparable considering relative upside. I would push on the leveling decision. Otherwise the numbers are just never going to work
I'm 4 right now but on track for a promo. Recruiter said they can't bump me up.
Btw when are the units assigned? On offer acceptance or join date? Odds of even higher valuations in Apr?
Now with cb go ipo, what you get for stock is face value. Negotiate hard, get senior, even 300k is way lower than what you can make in FB
if you join in may the odds of 3x RSU on short term are very very low since your grant size depends on start date (and not on offer date). You really need to get IC5 to make this move worth your while at least a bit. Sometimes I'm ashamed of the offers coinbase makes... The company is printing money and yet we're cheap AF with talent
I thought offers were decent. Last year (feb 2020) I got offered 200k base + 700k RSU Not quite as high as FB but very close. Recruiter said there was room for negotiation but I declined since I felt the team I was matched to wasn’t exciting. Looked like I was really giving up a 15% bonus, TC wise. Offset by higher growth in RSU
last year Feb 2020 coinbase was still giving out options and as I can see you got 700k stock @IC5 which is out of band as of ~October when they switched to RSUs. Nowadays you can't get that much anymore. Also you got your options at 8B valuation. OP will start in May when valuation will be a lot higher.
I think you got an Ic4 offer

Sounds like their L4 offer? Would you be taking a downlevel too?
