I genuinely enjoy my job and therefore work hard daily. I am on track for EE+ also. I planned on swapping team after 12 months to a SWE role. The issue is I work very hard in my role so I am tired by the weekend to be practicing LC. I have read a number of posts about people slacking / cruising at work and using the time to LC. My issue with this is I can always find more work or interesting things to build so I never really feel the need to slack or cruise also. I also feel guilty if I do not work on my teams problems during work time. But I am now worried 12 months is approaching and I have made no progress with LC. Anyone else find this battle? What did you do? I know LC training will open up many opportunities for me and is the right thing to do. But I feel like I’m cheating by doing it during work time. :/ (especially because I am not unhappy).
Don't spend time worrying about a job that would take 45 minutes to replace you if you dropped dead tomorrow.
Why 45 mins?
That's how long a team matching call with the hiring manager would take. Whoever is going to replace you has already been through interviews and the hiring committee.
