At the age of 18, I embarked on an exciting entrepreneurial journey, co-founding a small tech startup with an older male ex-Capital One analyst who had promising access to venture capital resources. Launching our beta version was exhilarating, and I was filled with hope for our app's future success. My co-founder's connections to venture capitalists gave us a strong financial footing. One of the first red flags I noticed was my co-founder's inappropriate questions. He began asking me questions about "foreplay," he then shared his screen during our video call and I noticed he had some screenshots of us during the call which I was not supposed to see as he abruptly stopped the screen share. Perhaps the most unsettling request was when he asked me to spend the night with an investor he had connected with at Harvard. He then suggested I download dating apps to get more users to download our beta version.
This is Wendy’s
That’s normal- go with the flow
Lol
Document everything, screenshots and emails. Do not be alone with the coworker, do not stay after hours at work no matter the reason. Let someone close to you know about this so they can keep an eye on you and be there for you in case something happens. I'm so sorry that you're going through this.
Don't be alone with any non-relative male. Guys want action, above most else. Most control it and do the right thing, but it's an ever-present nag. So be like Mike Pence and prevent any chance of it happening.
Given all the stories that go around this doesn’t seem out of the norm even though it crosses the line. Wait til you hear about the crazy s-x parties on sand hill road …
No inv?
Sooo are you going to stay there and put up with being treated like an object? What’s your plan exactly and what are you seeking posting about it on blind. And who partners with an 18 year old to start a company. That’s the real 💀🤡 in the room
Nope after that I have simply walked out of the startup. They partnered with me because I was a very agile mobile app developer the skills my co-founder was lacking. When the company first started it was a NPO. With B2B strategies after the app had beta version developed and then having the investors on board. NO APP = NO USERS = NO MONEY = SAD INVESTORS 🔻
Do you think you were only hired because you were female?
Perhaps, having a female co-founder always helps with investors and gaining funds.
Sure! That’s exactly why he hired you…
Great, we now have tech bros trying to pimp out their cofounders. That Harvard guy might’ve very well been gay, he should put out himself
What fraction of the startup belongs to you? Have never been in such situation thankfully but would try to set boundaries. I know it will be very difficult.
Taze him in the nuts.
