How to relocate out of Blue areas?
See doordash. Lyft could have been 2X of today s doordash marketcap had it invested in food delivery. Is it because Lyft dumped it money to self driving ? Are you Lyft folks still behind that decision?
Lyft was banking on Uber haters to keep lifting the business. They got cocky and did not diversify. And even managed to screw up the bike rentals business by raising fees 30X, losing that goodwill. I lost any empathy for them when my $15/mo unlimited ebikes in SF overnight were priced at 15 cents/minute! RIP lyft as you lose talent and become redundant
All these delivery bullshit will be worth close to nothing once pandemic is over. I think Lyft stayed focus and it will payoff in the long run.
Even in the ride hailing business, they are only present in one country and aren’t even close to the market leader. Look at their stock? With all these Airbnb and doordaah millionaires, why will anyone stay with a company that is losing market share, not diversified and valued at 8 times less than the leader.
eBay guy you sound like Lyft cheer team.
Any Lyft employees want to chime in? Think about the 3X you are losing.
It certainly would have given their bottom line a Lyft.
Lyft for sure is doomed. We have no self-driving tech and are becoming a bike rental app. Lyft has quietly had 4-6 different rounds of layoffs in the last year alone. The game plan is to become an 'all in one transport app'. But with covid happening why would anyone want to hop in an awkward car ride with other plebs. Car ownership has rocketed in the last year.
Then why arent u selling self driving part assuming that worths some dollars?
Because if Lyft sells that off then it has no possible avenue or path to becoming a legitimate player in transportation other than just a rideshare company that's not even international and has a small percentage of the market share.
Self driving is unlikely to happen anytime soon. Too many obstacles - tech, society, govt... If it does happen, Tesla will win hands down because they're so far ahead in tech.
Recently interviewed with Lyft and they’re still living in oblivion, unable to understand what they missed out on.
One thing people aren’t considering is Lyft doesn’t have infinite money. Bet they couldn’t have afforded to go into food delivery even if they wanted to. Fairly sure they’ve been on the brink of bankruptcy MULTIPLE times throughout its life. Cost a lot of money to fight for the market which was and is already very saturated.
I interviewed with Lyft recently. A bunch of delusional, unaware and proud folks I’d say. They were still very arrogant that not going into the food delivery was a choice very well working for them. I do like their social commitments (although I don’t understand what’s the catch) but the company in general sounded pretty delusional about the reality of the world, the pandemic and their future in it. And they still believe they are the originals and refuse to acknowledge that most of their products are copy-paste from Uber.
Did you just comment the same thing again from 2 weeks ago?
Huh?
They screwed up big time. They are fighting to be a distant number 2. And it’s too late to even be a distant #4 in food now behind DD, Uber, and GH.
A follow up question is if it makes sense to sell self driving to fund food delivery?
Behind GH? Lmao
