ignore the poll if you don't understand or if your primary system is windows
PowerShell of course. If you don't know it now you most certainly will in the future.
PowerShell works on Objects where all the other shells work on text. In most shells when you pipe a command into another you're just giving it more text which you have to parse. In PowerShell when you pipe output to another command that command doesn't need to parse text nor figure it out, the input object very easily presents itself actually and all the properties and methods it has.
I'm gonna need more popcorn.
The poll is for favorite shell, not best. The best shell is the one that's installed on your machines.
Why exclude Windows? We at least have Bash and PowerShell in addition to cmd...
We also have backslashes. Fuck backslashes. I hate them. I'll grant that half of my hatred stems from the era when the backslash key was in a different place on every new keyboard, but still... fuck 'em. They still fuck up string literals in C++.
does it matter?
To all the people on bash, did you actually make that choice? Or are you there by default? Have you tried any other shells? If so, why did you not like them. I'm happy that as I write this at least 24% of us know zsh is the way. :-)

"Ignore if your primary system is Windows" -- just so you know Windows has Powershell, which is easily the best shell, and it's now open source and available on Linux as well.
> /dev/null # best shell LOL
Does PowerShell have && yet? I really want to like it, but they don't make it easy.
