MANGA Advice

Looking to get the highest TC for my YOE. Targeting MANGA as I’ve talked to people whom worked at a few and the mentoring thats possible (if you get the right team) is phenomenal!! Currently an L5 app sec analyst with SOC, NOC and help desk experience. Been doing debugging/ packet analysis/ dll injecting since i was a kid(13y old) I hold a secret clearance. Prefer remote but definitely willing to relocate. TC: 115000 YOE: Cyber (8) Side Note: is it just me or does SWE and DataAnalysis get paid WAY more TC per YOE #cybersecurity #security #Appsec #carrer_move

Assuming you are located in usa as you got a clearernce. I’m beyond shocked at how little you are making at L5. Do you have cloud knowledge ? How good are your programming and automation skills. As an p4 or p5 you should be making easily 50 to 60 more in base pay alone

I am located in USA. My cloud knowledge isnt as strong as it should be but i am catching up. I can program in just about anything if you give me google, coffee and a full day to myself. I wear the architect hat. What TC should i be targeting? The low TC had me really considering going cloud eng (after some practice) or maybe even Data analysis or SWE

To be paid higher in infosec, you should go for sec eng roles. Sec analyst roles typically get paid lower. The difference is that as a sec eng you are expected to be more technical, write more code, and do more actual engineering. Not that you need to code at the level of a SWE, but you need to be comfortable with writing scripts to parse/manipulate/analyze data, build automation, prototype security tooling in some cases, things like these. This way your prior experience won’t go to waste, you just need to grow your skills a bit more

@yahoo which companies have good teams in sec Eng? Like the ones focusing on appsec? I know Netflix does, and does pay very well as well, any other companies?
