I am joining an MBA program this September and from some research have read that post MBA jobs at tech firms are less rewarding than post MBA jobs at ibanks. Is this really the general consensus?
Work life balance in tech was worth the lower TC. I can't imagine keeping the killer hours in banking and finance, even if it came with massive hiring bonuses or stock.
Financially you’re prob best off going to a big consultancy or a bank, but that’s fucking boring. Go into tech (but then you probably don’t need an MBA to do a good job in a management/strategy role).
If you can get a job in ibanking, do it for 2-3 years then jump over to something else in your industry vertical
My advise, for the first one month check out and network with alums from your school and understand what motivates you. Do what you like to do. If you don't like finance, you will not survive the cut in iBanking for example. Every role post mba requires a specific skill set.
It's all about your team and manager!
