MBAs are not worth it. In todays world, they are for rich people with cash to burn who are hoping to “break in” to tech without much effort. I never look at education before interviewing candidates. Experience over education. With MBAs you waste hundreds of thousands of dollars and miss out of several years of experience all for a piece of paper and anyone who tells you it’s worth it is someone who has already paid for it and wants to make themselves feel like the price tag was worth it. That is all.
"experience over everything" 🤣
Is this your Friday rant ?
Ok, possessing an MBA, not wishing I had one and throwing shade at them instead of doing the work, I respectfully and sincerely disagree. Also my MBA wasn’t even close to 100K let alone multiple. It cost less than a Camry and has made a lot more $$ than it cost.
Agreed. It's great to pivot into business/tech and can drive massive pay bumps. Not right for everyone and won't do this if you don't have experience and at least a sense for where you want end up afterwards
Dont wanna get interviewed with such closed mentality.
MBA from an Ivy league uni helps 10000%. I have an engineering degree from Columbia University and 2 YOE and couldn't get any FAANG interviews. Also have friends who recently graduated with an MBA from Harvard/Columbia and immediately got a job.
If you couldn’t get a fang interview from Columbia it’s completely on you and your resume lol not the school
I agree it's also the experience which was irrelevant (biomedical engineering), but there's no doubt ivy league MBA'S have assigned slots on FAANG companies for their alumni. We weren't even offered internships in FAANGs...
Even bachelors degrees are not worth it. Maybe attend a year of community college and you’re set
coursera is enough for OP
It’s the network. It’s all about the network.
MBA is like a cult…. One who spends it will hire the ones who spent it and the pyramid goes on
Like Amway
Exactly. There are better engineers who are good at product ideas and management (than wishwashing pms) who couldn't get into PM route because of this scheme. Also, why top tier MBAs are valued? Not because of the course content, just the connection and network it brings.
Useless degree at least in India if you're good at programming. MBA salaries on an average are way lower than sde salaries at decent places.
India is not south india only
Decent places = decent places to work at Stop defaulting to such thinking @solz7 lmao
😳😊😂
