Hello, everyone! I'm a 24-year-old tech salesman/business development representative at FinTech (a competitor to Stripe). I performed poorly in high school and thus never really pursued college beyond a 2-semester tour as a theatre major. Long story short, I'm wondering a few things: - Is pursuing a career at MBB, Deloitte, PWC, Accenture, E&Y, Parthenon, etc. still worth it? I'm aware that I'll have to go to school and stick with it, though I'm committed to it and already calling universities. I'm also studying at Khan Academy to retake my SATs. - I'm taking Google's Project Management and Zero to Mastery's Business Intelligence Analyst courses to bolster my resume and work a better job remotely, leaving energy to pursue my degree with an online bachelor's at the either University of Florida, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Oregon State University, or the University of Colorado Boulder. Would my work experience be enough to circumvent the 3-year gap for an MBA? Would it shine well on an application at one of the aforementioned firms despite my age? Would my age matter? Out of the universities I named, only Florida has McKinsey presence on campus. How can I make myself a more attractive candidate despite my circumstances? #consulting #finance #productmanagement #operations
What’s your end goal? I am biased bc I work at McKinsey but it’s undoubtedly a great career path that if you can break in, pretty much set financially for life and will most likely become very very rich if you stick around still Partner
I was an experienced hire btw, went to an average state school for undergrad and my MS degree in Statistics, so it’s definitely possible to get in from a non-target if you play your cards right.

At this point in your career you would not be considered for a general consulting position at Bain & Company until you got a MBA from a target school
So would you recommend pursuing the bachelor's at one of the aforementioned universities and then trying to get into a target MBA before applying to a firm?
Yep, if you were deadset on getting a job as a Consultant at Bain & Company. Also consider the opportunity cost of doing something else. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend you to do 2 yrs to finish your undergrad then another 2 yrs for MBA just to get a job here.
