I’m considering a role for a Sr Software engineer at Nintendo. I don’t expect to get my same TC (~300k) but I was wondering what would be a reasonable upper end TC for Sr at Nintendo? Also how is Nintendo in general to work at? #nintendo #engineering #software #swe
If you're a plumber named Mario, it's awesome!
Do they have a Bay Area presence?
No, we closed the Redwood City office LY. Great time to join Nintendo, lots of changes happening for the good. Expanding the usage of IP into new ventures and it seems to be paying off for the better. Yes, lots of Japan input, but the USA is Nintendos largest market.
Mind if I DM?
I will say it is a wonderful company. People and culture are great. Comp can't be compared to Meta, MS, or Google. Bonuses are lucrative and very nice. All personal performance based. TC can be close, but the people and culture make it worthwhile for me. Also a very stable organization.
~200k TC would be around the mid-upper end for a senior SWE depending on which branch of Nintendo you work for. Culture is great, people are great, and the WLB is the best. Red tape is abundant.
Been trying to get in that place for years. Heard the WLB is top notch. Had someone give me a referral but never got a call back.
What about it is good? Aren’t banks and gov chill as well
This is just hearsay so take it with a grain of salt. I’ve heard once you get in it’s a coasters dream. Literally impossible to get fired unless you streak through the building or do a goat sacrificing in the cafeteria. Things move at a snails pace because everything needs approval from headquarters in Japan. So most of the time you’re working on small tasks or not working at all. Also, it’s Nintendo who the fuck wouldn’t want to work for them?
