According to Nerdwallet cost of living calculator my current TC of 500k would be equivalent to 1M+ in Alabama where I am shifting for family reasons!! Is there something wrong here???

This. You’ll cut your housing cost by probably 50% or maybe more, and your grocery bill a bunch. But the rest of what you buy is more statically priced. Cars cost about the same anywhere nowadays, same with computers, iPhones, stocks, etc. At high income levels the cost of living calculators tend to fall apart. If you make 500k who cares if you save $3 on a movie ticket bc you live in Bama.
