An Uber MLE recruiter called me about a Senior Machine Learning Engineer position at uber in the bay area. She said that although the post says Senior Machine Learning Engineer, they will only consider me for Level 2 and not Level 3 (which is senior). However after the talk she sent me the link to the job posting and it says minimum qualifications as 3 years of software engineering experience. The Uber recruiter clearly said she acknowledged that I have 2.5 years of experience all at Microsoft. This MLE role was information retrieval, relevance, ranking and the recruiter clearly stated that I currently work in this domain and have relevant personalization experience. Does this mean that if for these kinds of Senior MLE roles at Uber which call for a minimum of 3 YOE, if I get 0.5 more years of experience, I can be considered for senior role? And should I wait just a bit more time to get to that 3 YOE, because it seems that the prospects are even better at 3 YOE, because you can be considered for Senior MLE as the postings show? #google #facebook #apple #uber #lyft #netflix #microsoft #faang #machinelearning #machinelearningengineer
