Pretty much no one at MS is satisfied with the pay increase. Common reasons from feedback from a few hundred people indicate that: 1) It doesn't account for inflation 2) for a below market TC, we just fell another 14%+ behind Azn & G 3) new team members are still being hired at or above 30% TC compared to existing members 4) this doesn't even come into effect until September, so it is not immediate like other companies That said, no one feels like we can actually talk about it inside the company. People are scared that they can't complain without ending their career, when really this is a systemic issue that was 'resolved' with a slap in the face. Leadership needs to know that they just incentivized even more people to just leave MS who were previously ok with it. You should see the young microsoft employee FB group and other communities...idk if any early career folks are going to be left at Microsoft after a year. By and large, MS folks are satisfied with the company. Easy place to chill & work, usually pulse surveys reveal high rates of satisfaction in the 80s and 90s, so its not like we are angry all the time. This news was just insulting. *edit: if you're HR on here, people are mutinous. Please build an anonymous form of feedback that ELT will see. This just kicked a hornet's nest internally.
Tbh 14% less than G sounds like a good place for a company that def isn’t competing with G for the same talent pool, interview difficulty etc lol. That’s roughly a difference between 300k and 275k for a senior. At lower levels it may be more meaningful
*14% additionally behind, most of what I saw was about 20% for early levels at G & Azn. We were already far behind, now just farther.
Total 34%? that’s a lot. And if they’re paying new employees more that’s a good reason to be outraged about. We have the same issues. The industry systematically imcentivizes people to leetcode and look outside rather than working harder in their day jobs
So leave then, who cares, whiny babies. Go to the competitors you listed. I don’t understand this
Your compensation is above market, not below. There are only a small handful of companies in the Seattle area that compensate as well as or better than Microsoft. MSFT is easily 80-90th percentile after considering stock appreciation and 70-75th percentile without.
LEAVE
lol workin on it. Most people just had been talking about details of the news, not actually an update on sentiment. This was summarized from a few communities of a couple thousand each.
