How are the two mapped? Career staging goes like IC1..4, M1..4 where as levels go L59... Is there a correlation?
For Engineering IC2 - 59,60 IC3 - 61,62 IC4 - 63,64 IC5 - 65,66 IC6 - 67,68 Lead positions start at equivalent of IC3 Manager positions start at the equivalent of IC4 L3 - 61,62 L4/M4 - 63,64 L5/M5 - 65,66 L6,M6 - 67,68 Career Stages are used to maintain parity between geographies and professions, where the levels differ. For eg, in CSS and Services in India IC2 - 56,57 IC3 - 58,59 IC4 - 60,61 IC5 - 62,63 IC6 - 64,65 Although the levels are -3 from engineering, say a person transitions from CSS to Engineering, their career stages will be lateral, the level will go +3.
I’m curious to understand if IC3 maps to G/FB L3, IC4 maps to L4, etc. I know that the titles don’t map (eg Microsoft’s Senior is IC4 and G/FB Senior is L5), but they are very close compensation-wise
YOE is usually the best gauge...
How far could I push the offer for the Base, Sign on cash bonus, and RSU sign on for the below role: I am based in NYC Business Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.
L59,60 -- Sde 1 L61,62 -- sde 2 L63,64 -- senior L65,66 -- principal For comparisons with other companies check levels.fyi
we are speaking of different things I guess. This is internal to msft. If you go to the careers website(as an employee) you will see in job filters the stuff I was referring to
