Does this sound like a fair offer (for Redmond)? ~$200k base ~$280k stock/4 years 0-40% bonus range So that's $270k/yr in base+stock, and then some bonus coming as well. Maybe $300k annually if I do well on bonus. Anyone else 65 at microsoft who can offer comparison figures? I have ~6 years experience. And ML knowledge.
For 6 years it's a fair offer
Thanks. Are you suggesting it's low for 65 otherwise? (I have 6 years industry, plus lots of time in PhD)
@tgde: Lyft doesn't come close to this for 6 years exp.
what is your level at google?
4
65 is a principal level at msft, maps to high l5 up to low l6. it's quite a move.
This offer is on the high end. For L65, avg. bonus is 20% and perf. stock is $75K. Assuming your performance will be rated avg. the first year, you're looking at $325,000. If you're rated as a top performer, you've a potential of making up to $380,000. Do you have any sign on cash and relocation?
Thanks for the details! By "perf stock" do you mean annual new stock bonuses? (I assume these are given out each year based on performance and also follow a 4-year vesting schedule?)
Yes, relocation help plus 80k sign on bonus.
In my old days, principal from msft (65) usually went to senior at google..
Some one should fix levels.fyi. It says MS65 is like G T6.
65 Microsoft is typically L5 in google. Any suggesting of L6 is inaccurate, unless someone knows of a special case. If you are PhD with ML you can ask for more stocks especially if you have competing offers. The market is crazy. But this offer is really really good. Btw which org/team?
Thanks all -- really appreciate the advice. Yes, looking at the job itself it seems more like an L5 role. And I'm due for a promo to L5 so it seems reasonable. I did ask for more stock already and the number came up to where it is now. But glad to know it's still good. It's similar to my Google total comp in the Bay Area at the moment, at least, so it it's effectively a pay jump because it's somewhat less expensive there...
Just curious. Why jump for same compensation especially that you are due for a promo?
Team is a good fit and the job seems interesting. So it's tough to decide whether to stay or go. Seattle housing, though, is a LOT cheaper. Quality of life.
OP - Do you have competing offers from other companies? If yes, do you mind sharing them?
Nope just found a team where I'm a good fit.
A pretty solid offer
