I never thought I'd consider working there, but seems like job openings are thin on the ground at the moment and an Amazon recruiter reached out to me. Got Meta E5/E6 interviews lined up too, but that's the only other big company that has responded and I have no idea if I will crack their interviews – I'm having having trouble solving LC problems in 15 minutes. Even if I do if they might freeze hiring before I get team matched given their huge backlog. No response from my applications to other FAANGs. My only other lead is Snowflake, but the recruiter was rude and sounds like they're even more of a PIP factory than Amazon.
I used to work in Amazon and one of the best teams I ever worked on was there. I still miss it although I don’t see myself going back for now. Amazon teams/orgs are almost like startups and culture varies a lot across the company.
I like Amazon. People in my large area help and want everyone to succeed. It isn't as bad in my experience as people say. You do need to deliver results to get a good rating, which isn't any different than how banks operate.
Only the first 6 months.
Don’t come if you want to save your mental health. It’s a shit show that doesn’t have an ending
if you are lucky you might land in a decent team that wont backstab you and reward high performers why do you want FAANG so bad? Looking for a resume boost? 1-2 years at amazon is enough to do the trick
TBH, it's not that I want FAANG, but they are a known quantity and because they hire so much it's easier to know what to expect in interviews. I'd happily work anywhere with similar TC, but most places I've applied to just haven't responded. I've neglected social networking most of my career so I don't have a ton of people to turn to for referrals.
then working at amazon at a couple years is probably the move you are looking for, their bar isn’t as high as other FAANG but there’s a good reason why you wont have the greatest of time there but you will learn a lot and many companies will feel friendly if you are used to amazon
