For everyone that is in the Machine Learning field - What was your career path? Should Data Analytics be the first step and then expanding from there? #machinelearning #machinelearningengineer #datascience
No no and no - DA is another word for SQL jockey
So it's not important to learn those foundations first?
It’s important but that doesn’t mean a DA is the first step in the career path. You can learn sufficient sql in a far shorter time
There are couple main career directions in ML: Data scientist, ML researcher, ML/MLOps engineer, and other ones. Learning ML theory fundamentals is necessary for all of them. You hashtagged ML engineer, for that you also need to develop solid SWE skills and practice LC.
Thank you for that insight, very helpful! What does LC stand for?
Leetcode.
Do SWE and work on ML adjacent roles
By machine learning career do you mean a machine learning engineer? Or a data scientist? Or a research engineer? Or a data engineer? What does this actually mean. Make better questions.
Do you want to be an ML engineer or you just want to work in an ML team/org? There are many roles including generic engineers, even front-end/full-stack engineers if the ML has an UI.
