Hi My background was originally from Electrical and power electronics and worked at Intel previously. I learnt leetcode and Distributed Systems (DDIA) and got few FAANG offers. I made a mistake of choosing Tesla’s Platform SWE over other faangs and fintechs. I not not getting ML/AI opportunities. I intend to become Applied or Research Scientist in AI/ML domain. There is a huge market for application of ML/AI Models to Operations and Infrastructure/SRE/Observability. Should I remain in general Platform SWE/SRE or try to switch to AI/MLinfra? If I can switch from Electrical/Electronics to SWE/DistributedSystems, can I now switch to AI/ML Research? Primary coding language?
Python
Don’t you need C++, Rust or Go for Concurrency if it want to get into Distributed systems?
Would you be able to share after how many years you made the switch to sw?
3 years
Yes, if you do a MS or Phd in ML
Why a degree is necessary? I can read books and do opensource projects
Lol ML Research is not like SWE where a bootcamp or self-taught dev can easily make it.
Become a good generalist SWE regardless of domain. That's going to be more transferable skill and in turn higher salaries in the long run.

Please explain the FLP result and I will believe you know anything about distributed computing.
Explanation is simple. Proving it is hard. Help me find someone who can understand the paper not simply regurgitate the conclusion
Find me someone who has even read the paper. Blind bros are mostly people who are making an api call, claiming to be distributed systems developers. OP is one of them.

You can do it if you set your heart and mind to it. Don't do it for the TC. Do it for the love of the subject. TC will chase you
I want to reduce on-call burden. I feel like developing an AI based Bot that: - be first line of support and always be oncall - the model should resolve 60-70 prod issues by taking actions with escalation to a human engineer.
