Hi all, I wanted to understand the process of machine learning engineer interview at Facebook. What are the areas I should prepare?
A mix of 2-3 coding interview rounds (2x LeetCode easy-medium questions per round), 1-2 ML system design rounds and a behavioral round. Do prepare stories for the behavioral questions.
So to be a ML Engineer at Facebook you really only have 1 round where you’re tested about ML stuff?
ML engineer is more engineering and less ML. This the interview reflects that.
This is what I’m curious about as well. How deep is this ML knowledge in the 1-2 ML system design rounds? Is it more about ML infra? I don’t have a formal education in ML but have a BS in CS and am thinking of transitioning to MLE internally. Just trying to understand what type of stuff is actually tested in the ML interview.
Any good resources for ML system design preparation?
Yes the focus is on applying ML to solve a business problem as opposed to statistics or actual ML. You can search for mock ML design interviews online to get a sense for what these look like. The FB interview page itself has some good tips, as does this https://towardsdatascience.com/how-to-answer-any-machine-learning-system-design-interview-question-a98656bb7ff0
When do you have the interview ?
In the next 3 months
