Companies should have to report gender, ethnicity, salary, location data to consumers so that we can use it to make informed purchasing decisions. For example, if I knew that Vanguard used more Indian labor and Fidelity used more American workers, then I would choose to move my investment accounts accordingly. Obviously, as an American 🇺🇸 consumer and IT worker, I would want to support companies that hire American workers and make their software in America. Don’t we do this with cars now? I don’t really look at the data when buying a car but then again, I don’t work in the automotive industry.
This is satire, right?
You do realize you posted on blind and it's full of non American people aka Indians?
Yes
Another entitled post about his whole make in America shit. When it suited to have cheap labor for capitalism everyone was up for it to maximize profits. Now seeing some jobs go off-shore, ppl are shitting pants. Typical American behavior.
Off-shoring has been going on since like 2004, it's nothing new.
"typical American behavior" do you understand that the ones hiring the cheap labor and the ones complaining about off shore workers aren't the same, right? And I'm sure any country's people would be upset if their jobs were going to people of a different country rather than their own citizens. It needs to stop
American cars are the worst. Ford- Found on road dead OR fix or repair daily Meanwhile Honda and Toyotas last forever.
Best EV company is American. Until BYD takes over.
Who, GM?
I get your gist but it’s just another virtue signal like most other things. I want good software that’s user friendly. I want a car that’s not in the shop every other week. That’s it. Now if there’s an obvious lapse of morals (war, murder, overt racism (covert is in every section of the globe 🤷♀️)), then I may make a different decision, but in the end al the money is still going in the same crooked pot.
I mean is there really that much of a difference between 401k providers/mutual funds/ETFs? This would also force companies to keep their hiring overseas in check for fear of losing customer.
Your broker is not your ETF provider (brokers make a few dollars per trade execution, unlike your asset management fee with an ETF). Regarding ETFs, everything you would want to know is in the prospectus - passive ETFs are run largely by computers and not staff. Fidelity (in general) is high fee as compared with Vanguard. Choose the cheapest option and forget about it.
^^^^ This and my point exactly: I think Fidelity actually has the lowest cost S&P 500 index mutual fund last I checked but agree with choosing the cheapest option. Now if the expense ratio was .02% more at Vanguard and Fidelity was 50% American whereas Vanguard was 70% American then I might choose the Vanguard S&P 500 index mutual fund.
NGL, choosing companies based on the race of workers is racist, fr
It's not racist to want to support companies that employ Americans vs off shoring to Indians, Germans, Chinese, whoever
Good thing that's not what I said
I want to do business with the company that has the better product. I don’t care what their inclusion or other whack-job DEI metrics are. The finished product is all I care about. I agree we shouldn’t offshore jobs. Remove tax incentives for companies that do it.
Sure that’s your choice. It’s not about DEI to me. It’s about offshoring American jobs.
Fuck you too

What do you mean “don’t we do this with cars”? Most people I know but foreign cars because they’re better than American cars (myself included)
OP means that cars have data on what percentage of their manufacture and what percentage of their materials was from in what country.
Exactly Cisco kid, I mean if I knew my 401k was with Fidelity and it was 70% made in America, then I would choose them over Vanguard if they were made 50% in America. I would even pay more (within reason).
