Made it to a TC of 850k 2 full time (remote) Software Engineering jobs. One Engineering manager role (450k TC) One software developer role (400k TC) The Software Development role is at AWS. For the management role, I prefer to keep the company anonymous. It’s a big company, but tier 3/4 in terms of tech/FANG. WLB is considered good! My rationale: 1. It’s risky. But worst-case scenario, I can quit one job. At-will employment goes both ways. 2. WLB is going to suck for as long as I do both jobs. But I am basically doing 2-yrs worth of work in just one year. So it’s like working super hard for 1 year and taking the next year off - not too bad. What do you think? #engineering #software #swe #tc #amazon #aws #google #meta #uber #lyft #netflix #ciena #bloomberg #salesforce #hr

What is your long term goal? You are chasing TC right now, but how long do you want this to last? If you burn out now and need to take longer time off to recover, what will you have achieved by the end of it ?
Most jobs paying 850k will have you work 12hr days. So, in terms of WLB it’s not very different. Would you take a job that pays 850k?
No. I won’t
If you don’t care about mental health, outdoor activities, developing hobbies, learning things outside of work then yes why not?
True. It’s not going to be forever though. Almost every job paying 850k is going to have you work 12hr days
Seems like OP is convinced that to make 850k you have to work 12hr days. No you don't.
I want to do this too. But if I like both jobs, and say have a 3 month overlap…. How do I explain on my resume?
No need to put every job on resume or LinkedIn. They’re useful tools for highlighting relevant experience.
But what if I eventually want to put the second job on my resume? Or if I do over employment, I should accept that I don’t ever put this job on my resume
Dude , it’s illegal - check employment terms and conditions at aws
Illegal? Is it against the law?
Terms and conditions are not laws. It’s not illegal, unless they are doing something like sharing trade secrets.
Nice dude. What are risks here? Do either companies know about the other?
No
Risks are having conflicting meetings, e.g. standups, 1-on-1s etc. I’m a manager in one job, so that gives me some flexibility with scheduling meetings. But there are directors and VPs above me who call the shots. This is the toughest part.
Its linkedin
Big bank actually
This is awesome, I wish you the best
Thanks.
How much taxes you are paying 😃
A lot! Just started actually.
Sour grapes lmao
