The question is simple, does having a large highly recognizable and/or prestigious company on your resume help get future jobs or better jobs. TC 100k #google #apple #amazon
Yes and no. Depends on the work mostly.
My first role was at a 50 person company. I spent at least 5 minutes of interviews for the 2nd role, explaining what that company did... That's the time I could've spent talking about my experience, answering questions or asking questions about the company in the role.,
The answer is simple: of course it does. Humans are silly and always look for validation signals. Did he used to date Kylie? Ok he passes he’s famous/hot. Did he use to date Amrita who is not very pretty and comes from the middle of nowhere village in UP: pass Dod he go to Stanford/IIT? Ok a signal of potential Did he use to work at OpenAI: ok my company can never dream so if he’s good for Altman he’s good for me, a simple manager . Etc… It’s known as a topic in economics. Especially in information theory/imperfect information. The stuff that gives those geniuses Nobel prizes (see the market for lemons paper)
Is my company highly recognizable? It's not prestige i know that 😭
Yes it’s highly recognized as being shitty
🤣thanks, it's better than nothing.
Absolutely yes. Cognitive bias is a real thing, and it definitely applies in the hiring process
I have Apple and Amazon on my resume. It’s a double edged sword because lower tier companies don’t like people like me in this economy. They think we’ll jump back to FAANG once the market recovers. This is particularly true to people who got laid off from FAANG (and they are not wrong). So we essentially only have an option to be seriously considered by other FAANG or near-FAANG (NVIDIA, Snowflake etc) but the competition there is steep because all the FAANG talent keeps rotating between these top tier companies. So we are a bit screwed.
Once you get into FAANG is it easy to rotate or is it hard to move without the recommendation still?
It’s not easy but you get a preference in consideration for interviews (i think)

Seriously? Apple is DYING...These possible IPad updates are so boring *Yawn*
There is no need for a poll here. This is wildly obvious.
