My office management is giving the developer space (large rooms seats 3-4 developers each) to new execs as big offices and moving developers next to the super loud and noisy support staff. It is okay to have co-workers some conversations on the phone but the support staff is always loud, on the phone or talking to each other about issues, there is drama when they have a rude customer etc. they need that to be productive whereas developers need the opposite. How do I bring this up to my superiors? In the end, I will be the one scrutinized for lower productivity which will result in such an environment. I might as well work at a train station.
Work from home.
My company only allows that under very special circumstances. I have asked for it in the past and they said I might as well take the day off.
If that is their mentality, I’d find a new employer lol I get 10x the work done WFH then I do in the office. I currently only go into the office to socialize not to get work done.
Gtfo. Your company is on a downward spiral. First signs are shit like this and thinking that a $3/hr engineer in India is a good investment
Yeah, I think they are on a downward spiral.
Boo fucking hoo. You lost your office because a bunch of idiots keep falling for the “open space is great” line. Welcome to the club, your member number is 6,738,991. Buy some headphones and get a laptop so you can work from a random spot when it gets too bad.
They don't think that, they just need enough big offices for execs to play golf in. 😂
Noise canceling headphones
+1 Sony 1000xm3
Thanks, but isn't that a band-aid and not the solution. Plus I spend $350 for something the office should provide, an ideal working environment.
