Management consulting or SWE?

So I just did an interview with a consulting company. First time really interviewing but I think I got the role. However, I’m starting to have doubts. I until just recently was learning to code, going down the SWE route, and even got an interview from Amazon (which I asked the recruiter if she could accept me for next round and so it’s been pushed back a month to prepare). I like my current role and I have all the time in the world to study (the one perk of ibm). I like the idea of management consulting. But the ceiling for salary and the competitor market for those skills seem to be on a scale never seen before. Both would open doors. But what I want the most is remote. I really really never want to be tied to any location every again. I grew up in a small town and well freedom is kinda on my mind lol. Anyone else have a hard time choosing ? TC: 90k Consulting: maybe 112k Amazon: I don’t know. How much do SDE 1s make?

Consulting is not remote long-term. It’s a people industry.

Yeah. That’s why I’m having a hard time making that choice. I value remote a lot. But it’s hard to say no.

I understand. Just go with your gut. Permanent remote also has its downsides, even if you’re an introvert.

Factor cost of living it’s all about the same. So long term growth is the biggest factor.
