Non tech role yoe 8 current TC 160K Currently working in Amazon , Utah and got zillow offer in Seattle TC 250K, (261k as stock grew since offer) Told my manager today and after talking to HR BP , he gave a counter offer of 195k now over email and l6 in 1 year which will bump TC to 220K leaving l6 aside , a google comparison of 195k seems much more in seattle than zillow offer. I am in dilemma as to choose Amazon at 195k , Salt lake city or 250k Zillow suggestion ?
195K in SLC any day is better than Seattle.
I currently work remote and have option to work remotely from any place . Buying house is also on my mind
Dude what's wrong with you? 195 at Utah is so much better and you got access to great ⛷️ everyday!!
Leave.
The problem with Zillow is that they’re getting into the business of flipping homes instead of just focusing on making money from agents and advertisers. When real estate market goes down, that stock compensation won’t be worth as much. If you like the current job, ask to match. Worth a shot.
Do you trust your manager that he will not screw you later ?
I do
Do you like working in Utah? Or do you want to move to Seattle and check it out. You can always go back to Amazon if you like Seattle or you can switch to Amazon Utah if you end up missing it.
Being soaked in rain water all the time in Seattle ain't worth it.
Career growth way better in Seattle

How to relocate out of Blue areas?
As they say, never accept a counter offer. Also, the counter offer is lower too so that makes this decision even easier
Utah vs Seattle, stay and enjoy if you like it there, savings will be same. If you are looking to accelerate your career and ready keep leet-coding, come to Seattle.
