Just delivered my 2-week notice to my manager and he didn't take it well at all. Some of the words he threw at me were "liar" and "untrustworthy". I was sort of dumbfounded and concluded with "I'll give you time to think on that" and came to lunch. The 2-week notice was just a courtesy thing, so I'm more than happy with his reaction since it won't make me feel shitty with quitting on the spot now. Does anyone know if quitting on the spot could have financial side-effect? I honestly dgaf about burning bridge since I tried getting down-leveled and realized I'm not a fan of 🍆 in my🍑. However, I do want my final pay and get un-used PTO cashed out. New TC: 385 -> 515 after negotiating (thx for yalls help btw)
quit now 😈, after free lunch of course
Having my crepe and latte now my guy ☕️🍰
yo wait what cafe has crepes?
They can’t not pay you for time worked or PTO accrued (assuming it accrues every paycheck). They could walk you out the door and not let you work this two weeks. Congrats on the new gig - sounds like quite an upgrade!
Based on a few different sources, Seattle/WA is not required to payout unused PTO. Feel free to correct me here
also thanks!
Can you speak English?
hola my guy
Epic, could it be where you’re going and manager is jealous?
It's AWS but a very niche group/org with godlike WLB. Doubt he knows what it is, and I've not disclose this with him. He's more likely salty that his promo carrot dangling didn't work
Just curious what group is it if you don’t mind sharing? AWS and good WLB typically don’t go together
Where you headed? Congrats!
Amazon but a very niche org with godlike wlb
Best of luck!
I was in same boat. In fact my manager was so pissed that he asked me to walk out immediately without doing two weeks. I don’t understand y do managers take it so personally ?
Because you are a pawn in their plans and ehe. You do things like this, you remind them that they have no power at all.
If you have high turnover it makes you look bad as a manager. Unless of course it's a period where you want turn over.
For folks who are wondering why A manager would react so badly, a lot of managers see reports as tools for their own promo/perf. Sudden departure causes the manager to lose everything they've built up. E.g. the manager may have fought for this report over a project, or was using this report's performance to save himself from going into a PIP. A real champ manager is OK with their reports leaving for greener pastures. It gives them satisfaction that someone learned things on their team and is moving on to better things. If they really wanted to retain the report, offer a counter at 20% higher than the external offer. But they can't/won't do that. Unfortunately, most tech management is equivalent to children with power over other's lives. All this behavior comes from layers and layers of management, each with their own pathological desires. But, as a report, you don't need to care about all this. Fuck them. Go live your life!
You spot on sherlock. He's been using me to deliver.
Yep. They see reports as pawns in their game.
you are gonna make bank . why are you worried about your sissy managers opinion ?
This hoe isn't gonna be cheated out of his 💸💅
Let me guess manager is Indian
🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠
OP are you also Indian? I’ve noticed Indian managers getting very comfortable when they’re alone with Indian SWEs. It gets very uncomfortable because you don’t even want them to be like that.

Joining a PIP factory. Rate my cash reserves
You can actually tell him to suck your D and leave in a glorious fashion and nothing will happen
I don't mind doing that but Seattle/WA policy is that unused PTO payout isn't required. I don't want his b1tch@ss snitchin to potentially withhold 4 weeks of PTO payout
OP you don’t know how to play the game. Go tell your entire team what your manager did and he’s a weasel and watch his life fall apart. The best moves only require the seed idea.
