Manager/Director/VP/etc Salaries

Hi everyone, I’m an IC and reaching the junction where I should either stay as an IC or go into the more “business” route. I feel I would enjoy the business route more now as I become a bit stagnant as an IC. But one of the things holding me back is salary… I make $550k right now. I don’t have any engineering managers/ directors/ VPs as friends or anything and idk if levels.fyi is accurate in those fields. Can I get some transparency into peoples tenures, roles, and salaries? And if you were an IC before, how did you transition? And what was the starting salary if you remember? And your salary now? And how long did it take you? (I know my decision shouldn’t be all about salary but it does affect it a big amount so I really appreciate the transparency!)

Don't you have a path to grow as an IC at Netflix? Managers are not on the "business" track as such, they're on the "people management" track, which is an entirely different ball game. If you have the opportunity to try it at Netflix, do it. Managing people is not for everyone. If you want to go more "business" there are also paths (either before or after becoming a manager): being a chief of staff to a director/VP, or going into product management are a couple of effective options.

What’s your role and YoE? Keep the bag, who cares IC or Manager.

Huh? "Business" route? Do you mean people management? Do you actually have an opportunity, or are you just doing mental masturbation? If you don't have an opportunity, what do you mean by "reaching the junction" to decide? If you do, have you thought about this at all? Do you actually think VPs make less than ICs or something?
