I am working on an app that might interest a subset of people in investing. How do l market it? Help me create an effective solo strategy. Few constraints, 1. I am uncomfortable appearing in youtube videos or social media. 2. It’s 100% self-funded, so the budget is very thin for marketing. Maybe $5K over six months. #marketing
Agreed with the advice above. It’s more important to understand if you have an market and that you’re actually solving their issues or pain points.

With that budget, you’re better off investing in a prototype and user research to see if there’s a fit for your product before anything else—without the right market fit, you’d be trying to fit a square into a circle. My suggestion is to try and market the app through an email list and use outreach to try and get some initial feedback on the idea—get some initial ideas and feedback on your app before investing in your marketing. Contrary to popular belief, even the best products will fail with subpar marketing, and you need to make sure your product is useful or solves an important need before investing in marketing. Depending on your age range, you’ll need to find which social media channels are the best for your audience. If you’re targeting HENRYs, then Facebook and Reddit are your best bet—however, unless you have an incredibly detailed user persona that’s built around your ideal user and their pain points, you won’t find success with marketing. You need to craft an effective branding campaign—how does your app solve a pain point for your target user? What does your app do better than the completion and why should your user use your app instead of the others? Study up on the 5 As of marketing and figure out a strategy to engage users throughout the funnel. If you’re trying to market quickly, consider YouTube ads based on Google’s built-in audiences and segments to see if there’s more of an interest in downloading your app. However, be aware that you won’t see any immediate success with PPC ads due to the fact that those require a certain spend to be profitable and that certain keywords quickly become dry and outdated, leading to underperforming campaigns and wasted dollars. Hopefully this helps, OP. Good luck! TC: 90K, worked in marketing my whole life and now pivoting to data analytics/data science
Thank you for the advice. How do I built the email list?
Is there any resource you can suggest that deals with how to do each of these?
