Mass revenue from the mass consumer for AI Tech is still very low

The ai bubble is going to burst. Usually a technology that makes a huge shift has two components. 1. Investment 2. Consumption of this tech that generates massive revenue to balance the investment. Let’s take the world of smart devices. We had smartphones even before the iPhone came out. But consumption of that tech was low. So investment was less. Once then iPhone came out and smartphones became the future, the investments grew. This also resulted in development and investments in startups that became huge due to this new platform that mass consumers were using to consume their products. Think of Samsung, android phone companies, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Uber etc. The smartphone tech was the platform that generated all that investment and its returns. But it would be all loss without consumers generating revenue. This was possible because of the platform. The consumer use cases of that tech was what we all use today. Social media, gig economy consumption etc. Uber, Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, trading apps. It’s all possible and generates huge revenue because of the tech platform that enabled it in people’s palms. But AI has a huge problem. It already has the level of investment from Wall Street and VCs that smartphone technology had in the last big tech paradigm shift. However if you ask the common man if they really need AI or have any use case? The answer is no. Also a platform is missing. Imo that platform for AI is home assistance robots. The penultimate mass consumer use case scenario for the penultimate AI product. This is the platform that is currently missing, for the every day consumer. Every person needs a smartphone. Every person WILL need a robot to do their chores and errands. They’ll take loans to buy them like they do for cars and phones/gadgets. Right now AI has no mass consumption to balance the investment from Wall Street and VCs. Wall Street is investing because it thinks that one day AI will be able to replace workers and that will mean higher revenues from all their companies where they have investments. But that reality is still 15-20 years down the line. If the massive investments don’t return the balance soon, it’s going to burst. #tech

AI is not helping me write production code. Stitching together everything was always the pain point not browsing stack-overflow and renaming some variables.

“However if you ask the common man if they really need AI or have any use case? The answer is no.” -students can use GPT to help them out with homework -AI is a blanket term that’s used a lot in everyday lives :the search engine uses a lot of ML to improve search results (a branch of AI) -Siri/Cortana/etc. is AI -list goes on

AI applications that we see are “augmented intelligence” at best. As humans, we need a throat to choke when things go wrong and for that reason true AI will never become a thing

Ai will be commoditiized soon . A few big companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft will give lend their models as a platform offering or as use case specific cloud offering anf go with it. Ppl will build applications on it like chat its for specific purposes, etc to make money . Somebody building a product out of that gen ai which is useful for end consumer makes money. Otherwise platform companies will anyway make money leasing their models out ..

Interesting ideas. Maybe someone will make an app that makes investing options easier and profitable for the regular people. Or gives them AI based big data curated investment advice. Stuff like that could change the industry and generate lots of revenue.
