Given AWS growth is crashing, how many people will AWS fire by year end? AWS growth rate: Q4”21: 40% Q1”22: 37% Q2”22: 33% Q3”22: 27% Q4”22: 20% Q1”23: 16% Q2”23: 11% (guidance) . . Q1”24: ?? (Low single digit or negative growth?) Employee count: 2018: 40,000 2022: 140,000
Does AWS really have 140k corporate employees or is that all of Amazon corporate? If the former, that's insane.
Corporate employees is over 300,000. 140k seems really high for that to be AWS. I never have been able figure out how to pull those employee counts by business unit since I’m non-tech and not smart
I think AWS only needs top 50 successful services to keep 99% its revenue. Assuming each one needs 500 people, that’s 25000 people. Let’s say AWS has 30% * 140k = 400k people currently, that’s another 15000 to lay off.
They fired 27000 as today with 10K leaking for July23 It’s madness right now …
No
Surprised it is still growing.
This! They'll be in for a rude shock if consumers start either migrating back to on-prem or optimizing their workloads
Azure has grown to 23% of IaaS market over last 5 years from single digits. Aws has had negative market share growth. The reason aws is duked is Azure and to a small extent gcp. It's growing only because total spend is growing
Recession is coming. Companies need to be prepared as it's about to get a lot worse before it gets better
What do you mean "coming". The recession is already here!! It been here for a while now...
You aint seen nothing yet
AWS just needs 3000 employees exactly.
They haven’t started the outsourcing game yet. GCP and Azure started moving multiple services to India and Eastern Europe which are not making much money.
Even 10k is evil... Imagine the reality of "More than 40k": companies gonna low-ball every offer from now on...
Yes but… The majority of AWS employees on L1B or H1B: it will be hard to find work within 2 months, and they just come back to India. So I don’t think that there will be long-term impact on job offers…
The majority of AWS employees are on visa? In your dreams? From what I observe at least 60% are Americans
