is it still worth doing masters in US in CS/SE given these VISA issues? Primary goal is to get a decent job post masters ...
Not worth it. Virtual classes would result in no experience , exposure and uncertainty in job because of visa issues.
If you have a Fall 2020 admit, then strongly recommend you defer it by 1 year. Don't pay fees to watch video lectures and later have OPT taken away too.
Can I DM you please?
Go to Canada.
And spend on COL an equivalent 🍆
Definitely not going this year ... but asking if it will be worth it next year ... I find life here too chaotic(India), highly densed, and think it will be bit peaceful in US? What do your experiences say? I know grass looks greener on the other side but would appreciate your inputs 🙂
No can give you a real answer of it'll be worth it next year tbh. Need to wait more and see how the situation is. Personally ime as someone who went the MS route from 2015-17 it was worth it. But citizenship/GC is still not feasible due to backlog so not sure about long term in US. If just peace is what you're after and want to settle abroad look at other countries like Canada where path to residency is easier. Everywhere else will have lower opportunities and pay though probably.
Yeah GC line is crazy long for indians, so If you want to avoid chaos, and population in the long term or forever, US is not the place. Canada might be your best bet for that. Or do a phd and get GC in a few years.
No, definitely not worth it. Try any non US developed country in the world with a better immigration system . The US is not really worth it, and the grass is definitely greener on the other side
Not worth it anymore.
It's not too long.
Depends on your goal. It helps you whether you stay in US or not if you pick the right school and major. For TC currently it is still the best here, and if it gets worse you can leave. You can also come back when Trump is out of office and a more reasonable political climate comes. Political climate seesaws over time.
University studies will likely be held online next year. Don’t come to the US if so.

Yes. This is the best time to join Masters. All the big companies are going to hire interns for next summer and you’ll literally be facing zero competition.
Yes, but there won't be an internship if there is no visa and taking huge educational loan for zoom classes and so much uncertainty isn't worth. I bet international students who got into Harvard, paid shit ton of tuition fees are also stressed and worried if they will be able to live here in this country and if they will be able to do internship here or will have to do in their home country.
If they are already in the country, then they’ve hit a jackpot!
