I'm deciding between McKinsey Digital and a smaller company that works on mutual fund data (ISS MI). Which one should I pick? McKinsey has better benefits, pay, rigid hours (9 to 6) and required pair programming and TDD. The smaller company has flexible hours, better work/life balance. Also the McKinsey role is internal, so no travel. Both are software roles.
McKinsey over a no-name company any day.
Ok I put company name in post lol
What role at McKinsey? If you are not a traditional consultant, skip McKinsey. Everyone except consultants are second class citizens - unfortunately true
Software developer
Did they tell you it's a 9 to 6 job? I have not seen anyone (including EAs) work from 9 to 6. If you are going to be staffed on client projects, trust me you will work way longer than that
Is that the group that works on McKinseys website?
Yeah lol but I'll be working on a different product.
@OP did you join McKinsey Digital? I am also deciding should I accept their offer or not.
My offer mention about role change eligibility after 1 yr at McK, what are growth oppurtunities for Internal roles #mckinsey

What are your priorities and career goals? I’d choose McKinsey over a no-name company, even if it’s a less glorious internal role.
I don't want a role where I burn out. I want a flexible, work-life balance but also learn and grow in that role.
