I have a McKinsey offer for an associate position. Current offer: 175K base + 20k perf bonus + 30K sign on What is the maximum number for each component? And any tips for negotiation? I'll be based out of LA. Meta TC: 165k (non-tech) YOE: 6
Sidebar: How did you prepare ?
Your base is already higher than your Meta TC. The performance bonus looks low (only ~12%) so I’d get clarity on what the target % bonus is for your level (I believe Associate is the level below EM)
Yeah, salary is definitely more than Meta. But I'd like to maximize the offer. Trying to figure out what is the max I can get for base/bonus/signon. Looked into Levels.fyi for data but hoping someone from McKinsey will chime in.
Check out managementconsulted website, they provide a lot of consulting comp numbers
For Associate level did you have an MS/MBA?
Yes, I have an MBA from a top school.
Seems like most run from MBB to fang, not other way around
Not a SWE. Think having McKinsey on my resume and the experience will help me later. Might come back to tech after a few years.
what role at Meta, finance, PM?
YOE is important here. Also manager or IC
Updated. I'll be an associate. IC at Meta.
Base seems good. Can maybe try for higher bonus but hard without another offer.
Do not leave for McKinsey
what about leave for significant pay bump
McKinsey is not a tech company and it never will be
Go to fishbowl? Way more consultants there than here.
I think perf bonus can go up to $45k, check management consulted for 2022 comp
This one? https://managementconsulted.com/consultant-salary/ Doesn't have a lot of details for associate consultant at McKinsey.
It does if you scroll down. $175/45/30
Not in McK but based on BCG, for an A level, base looks good. You can negotiate for 20% bonus but I’m sure it’s going to be hard to budge. Also, depends upon PA. Which one is it?
