Damn. I guess we know the answer to who lays off the people who lay off now.
Oh that's low How will the partners survive otherwise?
Just hanging in there with 1.5-4 mil yearly. How can they afford business class tickets, 5 star hotel stays, exotic buffets & Dior’s bag for their wives. 🙂 Sad life
They won't even be able to afford a jacuzzi for their dog. Do you know how hard it is when your friends at the country club look down at you?
I like the headline is calling out the selfishness of the partners. These rich people amaze me. Lay some lower paid person and make it harder for them to pay their bills to protect your million dollar compensation. And then these people talk about compassionate workplaces, ethics yada yada yada
They recommended a similar model for tech layoffs. Nothing surprising here
Partner comp isn't some magical fixed pool of money the company gets for existing. It's paid for by value the company itself has created. Firing thousands of people either means less value creation next year, or the company hired a bunch of seat warmers for no reason.
Yeah surely less people means less future income generation potential. I guess they know this lol.
Realistically they probably realized that the austere political environment is going to mean less businesses paying for consulting next year. So they didn't hire people for no reason. But when faced with the decision of cutting partner comp to try to keep more people on, or just laying off those people as the economic winds change, they chose the latter.
Nice, I guess they ran out of opportunities to restructure big tech. Y’all, seems that we are safe for the rest of 2023!
You sit tight, my friend. I’m sure Google isn’t done with its workforce cuts. And instead of attacking back-end McK folks that have nothing to do with direct client work, take a moment to reflect on the impact of Musk’s approach to Twitter’s workforce and its implications on tech community vs expressing strong feelings about the wrong function at McKinsey.
I’m sure there will be at least a silent round of PIP. Musk is definitely another interesting topic. That said, my sympathy for those that have nothing to do with the dirty work.
Probably McKinsey hired Bain to do the layoffs
The McK partners will dust off the Bain layoff plan made by the intern. Then the plan will be completed.
Main downside is these folks will go and spoil other companies with strategy decks and dirty politics
G hide your jealousy
You do realize that your CEO is a former McKinsey, right? And at the highest price point of Google stock during the pandemic I’m sure you were very supportive of your leadership. After all, you took the job, right?
Wow
Partners take full responsibility! …and no accountability
Well if McKinsey's doing it, you'll probably have all the other consultancies follow.
