Every time I socialize, it just feels like a very subtle way to judge you on every aspect. For example, Them : What car do you drive? Me: VW jetta. Agree that there are some idiots like this. For example, look at the weekly prestigious company list in blind etc... just stay away from them. There are some genuine nice people too. After all, things are not that bad.

What sort of a social circle do you have ? Any specific ethnic group? I have friends who are managers as well as blue collar workers and no one asks these questions. Of course we all talk about trucks , but just in terms of which one has more HP and stuff ,
I don't want to direct it to an ethnic group. But may be you're right. I can understand you folks talking about trucks' HP. That is geek talk and not prestige driven. Those conversations are genuinely fun.

Yes . Everyone is mentally sick here. They think material pleasure is everything. None is happy even with $1M salary. Just keep comparing. Worst part is they are raising kids same way. Zero happiness. If possible stay in other places LCOL.
