My wife was laid off in accounting department as well. She said they had been putting off huge bills from vendors for months. Like hundreds of thousands of dollars each. Kept just telling them they are working on paying them but never actually could. She only got two weeks of pay for severance and they tried to claim she served less than a year when her start and end date clearly where 12-13 months…. I had her respond and ask why and see if there is more severance for a year of service. Seems like they are trying to nickel and dime her. They were even trying to do that in the months leading up to it. Trying to claim leave pay for sick days to get reimbursed from their insurance company.
In case you care about anonymity, you might want to remove the first date since that exposes the employee.
