For a senior software engineer role, some interviewers would ask me to do some memorization test. This one, he asked me to write the HTML of a form, with text field, radios, checkboxes, dropbox, multi-select list, file submit, textarea, fieldset. I told him maybe I remember 80% of it, but there are some syntax I need to look up on Google. He said, nope, you are not allowed to look at Google. You have to write all that from memory. So I think I wrote 80% of it. Some syntax didn't work. And he just kept silent. Almost like he is the king of HTML form memorization. So I didn't get the job. But the job looks like it is all people from the same village anyway. So what do you think? I also wonder what the hiring manager thinks. The interview was a few years ago. The company was ChargePoint.
Looking stuff up is part of the job, what an idiot.
You dodged a bullet
After you wrote the HTML form, you were supposed to draw how it looks on a piece of paper. Of course you didn't pass the interview!
Did you look up your interviewer linkedin profile?
I forgot whether I looked it up or whether I only had his first name. But it was possible it was a profile with University of Wild Chicken.
You dodged a bullet.
What's going on here? you are joking I hope. wtf? html memorization? I can't stop laughing 🤣
the interviewer is idiot.
