Is mentioning a AWS certified solution architect on resume a red flag for applying to FAANGMULA ?
Probably depends on the role you're applying for. But AWS certs on LinkedIn have gotten me outreach from recruiters from AWS, MSFT, and FB. Obviously the certs are part of a bigger picture, but if you're going for a cloud related role I would say they're a plus.
Why would this be a red flag?
I read in other post that, HM stay from and see it as red flag. When someone asked him why he see it as red flag, that person did not respond. So wanted to check is it really a red flag or just that person opinion.
That person is an idiot. Certificates are useful in the right role. In principle just like college degrees are useful in the right role (or even required). But just like college degrees, it is just a piece of paper that doesnt hold much worth in other roles besides another thing to write on your resume [compared to real industry exp], especially if that cert has nothing to do with the role you're in or wanting to be in. And since I already have my AWS SA cert from a couple years ago, my first 60 day goal at Amazon has already been met so that checked that box. Our org is required to have SA associate at 60 days then 1y we have to get a Pro cert or another specialty cert. So take that as you will.
