First gen immigrant in US. I would love to do this, but I myself don't know much about USA education system, college admissions process, etc. Don't want to cause more harm than help. Do you think I can/should do it?
Same question
Most of the mentorship is focused on being there for them consistently and motivating through hardship, not really technical knowledge about admissions etc. There are workshops with industry experts we host (like a college admissions employee from Harvard, recruiters from Google) to share the ins and outs of the systems etc. You can learn more about the students here https://youtu.be/K6fk5vL-tAs And the program overview https://www.closethegapfoundation.org/program/fellowship
