Close the Gap is a 100% volunteer run 501c3 nonprofit organization built by formerly low income individuals who want to give back and give everyone the chances they had to become their best selves and break into high rewarding industries and edu action opportunities. Weโre looking for mentors that want to volunteer with us to mentor a high school fellow for ~1 hour a week. Youโll work with them on career and soft skills like resume building and public speaking, as well as have opportunities to meet other like minded working professionals part of close the Gapโs Network. The Fellows get a free MacBook and are low income high school students in PT time zone (California, Oregon, Washington) Itโs not required that you identify as having grown up first gen (first in your family to attend college) or low income, but a lot of our students do appreciate when their mentor has shared lived experience with them. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions! Application here: https://www.closethegapfoundation.org/become-a-mentor It takes 2 minutes to complete
This is awesome
Good program. Thanks for posting, OP
Close the Gap is awesome! Iโve heard that lots of fellows from this program go on to study at schools like Stanford and UC Berkeley through participation from this program. High potential students + tech employees is quite a combo. On top of that, guidance is being given to the students that need it most - brilliant :) Good luck with finding mentors!
Free laptop??
Free laptop is for the high school student. We have provided technology accommodations for volunteers in the past, if you need.
