Message about Coronavirus

Hi guys I am just a random SWE from Hong Kong, a few tips for you guys about Coronavirus. 1. Avoid "Made in China" face masks at all cost. Only buy masks from trustworthy brands if you can. There are so many reports around social networks in HK about fake (worst quality that cannot possibly provide any useful protection) and used (literally picked up and repacked from rubbish bins) face masks being sold at high cost. A random youtube video I searched can explain this https://youtu.be/dt3MqM2ZLPo 2. If you want to buy a face mask, prefer those have a rating of at least ASTM II, which is BFE 99%, PFE 99% and 120 mmHg. Pls don't buy those N95 cuz medical personnels need it. Anyway ASTM 1 masks are better than nothing through. 3. Actually all face masks you can buy in Amazon US is wiped out already (well I bought 23 boxes since my families and friends really need it). I tried to search the whole Amazon but actually the top results are from strange brands. Zooming the product images gives Simplified Chinese, you better avoid those. 3. Imo your best bet is to buy in local stores. If you wanna buy face masks act asap or you will be those struggling for face masks like us. You will also want to buy some alcohol-based hand sanitizer gels and wipes. 4. When you try to view any numbers provided by the PRC government, do yourself a favor and x10 or even x100 to those numbers, this is how people in the Chinese communities do the estimation. 5. There are no guarantee way to prevent infection. The best prevention you can do is to stay at your own home. I am really glad that I have the option to do home working. TC: 36k 😔

Have there been armed attacks on the shipments of ambrosia vaccine?

At least they got a vaccine for ambrosia. Unfortunately they got no vaccines for nCov yet 😭😭😭. What even worse the Hong Kong government are still refusing to close the boarder when those previously pro-China peoole are requesting it, gg.

WTF. I saw a tweet about someone repacking masks. Glad I have a permanent one.

Be serious dude, i don't really understand how permanent masks could potentially preventing infection, you will need a medical/surgical mask. Those tweets are real. Some sob are selling these used masks with a price like 4 times higher than usual real ones.

Dude. It's a joke, the picture. Bane Cat. Batman and all that.

I keep a box on N95 masks at all times (many moons ago I was a IT guy at a hospital and we would have MRSA and flu outbreaks). So what are the “real” infection numbers? The media in the US says 7700 infected and 170 dead. Are these true? What have you heard?

Media in the US are just reading official numbers from the PRC government. You have to understand that the 7700 number are just those inside the hospital who has been confirmed to catch the nCov. There are reports from weibo that there are many patients dead before they can actually be diagnosed. And the official numbers are limited by the number of virus test they can make each day (I guess they are working hard on it). Not to mention they are always trying to hide those numbers. A x10 would be a safe estimation. It should be noted that 5 million out of 13 million population in Wuhan has moved out of Wuhan before the blockade. You can expect that a good portion of these people will be spreading throughout the nation, or even the world.

Agree with OP. The PRC numbers are typically way under because of many cases that were not reported, or ahem fudging numbers.

You'll need to find a report from other source rather than Dajiyuan to be trustworthy. They are just a bigger joke. I'd rather believe every word from prc median than trusting their stories

If you’re not in China, you don’t need a mask. You’re welcome!

EA wut?! Jan 29, 2020

Really? Could have sworn cases are starting to be confirmed in the us and Canada

LinkedIn ntv Jan 29, 2020

You still don’t need a mask. There are a total of 5 cases in the US, out of a population of 328 million. Your chance of infection is just slightly higher than getting struck by lightning. Stop fueling the mass hysteria.

The feds are only keeping folks for 3 days and sending the home—you need a mask. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/01/29/health/us-coronavirus-evacuation-wednesday/index.html

I personally know someone who got struck by lightning waiting for a bus. Buy a n95 mask—if you can.
