$META is expected to conduct another mass round of layoffs tomorrow, up to 4,000, per Vox. Breaking news waiting for a link https://www.marketwatch.com/amp/story/meta-to-lay-off-4-000-this-week-report-6539378
Holy smokes
Is this 2nd or 3rd wave?
$META TO THE MOON
Nope stock is flat they wanted bigger layoff # I am not kidding the analyst said that..
Maybe Zuck needs to learn from Elon firing 80% of workers for just doing glorified things without actual contributions
was supposed to be 10k also executives still spread around the world, not actually caring. its sad to see meta die like this, we needed them for more tc…
It is 10k. 10k spread over 3 months from March to May. 4k seems to be just for tomorrow.
classic bait and switch to dupe the investors
META is dying without a doubt as TikTok is eating up the market
Growing*
All good things must come to an end!
This part of the 10k already announced recently. Recruiting last month, tech this month, business roles next month. Looks like tech is 40% of the layoffs. https://www.vox.com/technology/2023/4/18/23688627/meta-layoffs-mark-zuckerberg-facebook-instagram-whatsapp
Isn’t this the third round first round was 11k, 2nd round was 10k and this is third round?
This is part of the 2nd round. The 10,000 is split across 3 phases (recruiting, tech, business) across 3 months (march, april, may). Zuck explains here last month: “With less hiring, I’ve made the difficult decision to further reduce the size of our recruiting team. We will let recruiting team members know tomorrow whether they’re impacted. We expect to announce restructurings and layoffs in our tech groups in late April, and then our business groups in late May” https://about.fb.com/news/2023/03/mark-zuckerberg-meta-year-of-efficiency/amp/
Which locations? All US?
Is pm considered tech or business? When I was there I thought it was tech but can’t remember. So glad I jumped ship last summer right before shit hit the fan. Although I jumped to Alexa so probably not the smartest move LOLOL!!!
PM is considered tech at Meta (and Google).
I do not consider PM as a tech role unless he or she is a TPM
Hey chill! 🧘
RIP FAANG
That’s pushing it
Umm… this is public since last 2 months.
CNBC said it was latest round and layoff tracker also added it as well.
I don’t think we ever got the exact number this week
