“We are changing our name to Meta and focusing on building out the Metaverse. PS most of you building it are going to be let go.” Makes total sense.
Lol clickbait
New hires are sweating 😅
Why layoffs? Better prioritisation, and learning to do more with less. I think we have more than enough work to do as a company, and there was and is a deficit of engineers who can get things done. Stopping nice-to-have projects, optimising for smaller teams and re-directing talent where it is needed more is a well welcomed practice.
When you are a publicly traded company expenses matter. Moonshots and pet projects that don’t produce revenue will be scrutinized by analysts.

RIP Ipod 🙄🙄🙄🙄
When the economy is bad, all the companies need to be conservative with finances. Almost all companies reprioritize their projects. Metaverse is not profitable yet so it makes sense to prioritize other businesses so that the company can get through the crisis. And if & when things get better, they can pump more money into Metaverse. Doesn’t necessarily mean Metaverse is a lost cause.
Are they going to revert name back to Facebook
