I have read articles about meta Budget cuts and Google cloud support layoffs . But i see the Google atleast has been performing well. Wanted to understand the first hand experience of people.. is this something that's gonna take route to mass lay offs?
companies this big would have to layoff thousands of employees to get noticed. Usually don’t worry much unless you belong to absolutely shit org.
Don’t mix up Meta and others. Meta is going through a lot. Maybe do a post just on them to gather specific comments
Well Meta still hiring and offer a lot above market just hardly anyone taking the offer
Meta took away carry out food boxes for a couple of weeks to cut costs, which they reverted after a lot of complaints.
No, they didn't. The boxes are gone gone.
The CTO went as far as saying if this is a deal breaker, go work somewhere else
Google laid off to outsource the support positions to another consulting firm
And Meta is a Still a cash machine Zuck is just spending so much on the idea of the metaverse
If meta verse is a hit then $FB will 5x. If it flops then expect massive layoff in their FRL division though the core divisions should not be impacted too much
The jury will still be out for like 2 years tho
Do you think the Oculus is the extent of Metaverse offerings? Lowered hiring bar over there at LinkedIn if you think that. Like people saying the Nokia brick was the final stage of the cell phone...
yeah its imminent
Assuming that the Meta article is this one https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/11/technology/facebook-meta-perks.html?partner=slack&smid=sl-share wow, the pre-COVID perks at Meta = unbelievable!
The current perks are pretty incredible, just shifting a bit of the money away from in office perks to wfh perks.

How many of you in EB-2 India category think of going back to school for PhD and getting a bunch of publications?
Not at Google. It was a targeted reduction aimed at reducing overhead for a specific area. Not all of support was impacted. Based on the reaction GCP customers had I don’t see the execs wanting to do another set of 1:1s with customers over it.
