Have an offer to join an iOS ads team-- how's the culture at Meta these days? Was an ex-intern and recently got the offer. Is it worth jumping? I don't mind tough WLB. But are there worries as to more layoffs, stock price, and culture/atmosphere at the company? TC: 200 #Meta #Facebook #Instagram
Anything can happen at Meta(or any other company) in next 2 years. But Meta is great for building wealth and lightning fast promos. Culture is toxic but if you join as a new grad, you can assimilate to the culture seamlessly so that you feel it as natural. Go for it for the money. You are unlikely to learn much, but good money.
Why do you think it's unlikely to learn much? I expected the scale at which Meta apps operate has a lot of learning opportunities?
what I said is more apt for server backend. Even for iOS, the apps are extremely complex and bloated already. And you will work on small improvements mostly. Knowledge on react, graphql and some frameworks are transferable skills
Also wondering how WLB is for iOS roles. In general have heard (on blind) people say ads teams are the worst WLB though.
Dude how did you get into iOS development? Did you join Meta as intern with no iOS experience and they taught you on the job? I have 3 YOE as a Java developer and I am trying to transition into iOS development but I feel trapped because I work 50 hours Then I leetcode I have no time to actually learn iOS development and I need to get a new job soon since I get paid 🥜
Just spoke to a team who did iOS. Don't have previous experience in mobile dev but planning to self-learn a bit if I take the offer. I've done Android before at another internship so I don't think it should be too bad. Good luck on the search!
Okay thank you!
