Hi everyone, I wanted to seek some high level feedback on my interview with Meta in December. I cleared the initial coding round and got rejected in virtual onsite. Interview experience: 1) Coding round 1: 2 medium level question, started with Brute Force and came up to an optimised solution for the 1st one. Second question gave an initial approach and the interviewer gave some feedback, but the question was slightly ambiguous and wasn’t able to finish it. The interviewer appreciated my approach and mentioned I almost had it. 2) Coding round 2: 2 medium level questions, solved both and the interviewer also appreciated my approaches. 3) System Design Round: Gave a high level design for the system. Discussed trade offs and design choices. Asked a lot of questions to clarify the requirements. Came up with BOE calculation. Interviewer seemed to agree with my approaches 4) Behavioural: This was a good conversation. Spoke about my project and the challenges I faced. He was interested in my conflict resolutions skills more than anything. I told I am not a “told you so” person but more like “it’s okay, let’s fix it” and gave him specific examples for those. I think it was the question I missed in my coding round, but it’s hard to believe. Has the competition really that steep? Is there anything else I can work on. I asked the recruiter about the same, and after a month, she mentions that there are no specific feedback or improvements. Then how do they make the decisions? PS: I saw some blind post, questioning the authenticity of the post and its purpose. Attaching the screenshot from the recruiter mail. Also this post is to just understand the hiring bar, and how better to prepare for the next time. If it’s because of missing a coding question, then that is that. But if there is anything else which I am missing in my preparation, I would love to work on it.
Yeah pretty much cuz u didn’t solve the coding round in 1). U always have to assume there’s someone with better resume, better diversity, asking for less, solved all the coding/SD/behavior better and faster
Yea, but so close yet so far! Anyways yea can focus more towards that.
To improve on the diversity part, on the application mark that you’re gay/bisexual even if you’re not. Not like they will ask you to suck a dick to prove it
Probably, just the coding question. Don't take it personally, and do well at other companies or Meta again in 6 months
Your name is in this
Thanks for pointing it out!
did u interview for a specific role or is its like team match stuff?
General Meta E4, team matching was post this
they could have done a follow up.🙁. I have my onsite next week and after seeing this post I lost all my motivation. Im terrible.
What was the system design question?
Signed an NDA can’t share the questions
Either you didn't do as well as you thought, or it was the first coding round where you should have solved the 2nd question too.
What q did you get?
Signed an NDA can’t share the question.
Ffs
Reject is justified because you haven't provided interview questions even after being rejected.
how much time do they give for two medium questions?
These are standard 45 minutes for those 2 questions
